Admissions

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent, and we are delighted that you are considering Broad Chalke Primary School.  We warmly welcome you to have a look around our school and meet our staff and pupils.  Please contact the school office for confirmation of dates available. We are also very happy to answer any queries you may have by phone or e-mail.

We strive to foster an environment where children can flourish. Our website provides a host of information about our school, classes, the school environment and what we are all about, so please do take a look.

Children generally join us at the beginning of their school journey in Reception (Early Years Foundation Stage - EYFS), but we also warmly welcome in year applications too.

To apply for a school place and for more information about school admissions, please follow the link below to the Wiltshire Council school admissions website:

If you do not live in Wiltshire, you may still express a preference for our school. However, your application should be made on the form produced by your local authority.

The local authority will liaise with the school on receipt of any applications so that it may be processed in accordance with our school’s admission arrangements.

All schools have a limited number of places they can offer – this is called the Published Admission Number (or PAN). For us, this has been set at 30 per infant class. Only where we are over-subscribed with more applications for places than we have available, do we use the over-subscription criteria in our admissions policy for the academic year.

Appeals Information

Parents have the right of appeal to an Independent panel against the decision to refuse an application for a school place.  Details of the appeals procedure are sent out with all refusal letters. We rely on external bodies of support to make the necessary arrangements for any appeal (both in-year and Reception), including administering relevant documentation and assembling an appeals panel. Timelines for appeals can be found below.
